The National Galleries of Scotland wanted to reimagine how users discovered artistist's on their site.

The UX and Design team spent time working with Galleries to get closer to their likes and dislikes, early concepts and priorities in order to arrive at something that felt right for everyone and with genuine purpose.

The bold idea

Each artwork was reproduced in high-resolution imagery and we worked hard to ensure navigating the site is as intuitive and interesting as visiting the real thing.

The results

Time spent viewing art on the site has increased, alongside sales which have gone up by 35% year-on-year. This mirrors the increase in shop page views by more than double.

Their Collection is amongst the best in the world and through its exhibitions, activities, education and publications, it aims to inform and inspire anyone that’s interested in art.

With mobile being a big push for The National galleries' vision, visitors are able to dive into information about artists on display.
